Picasso Sculpture
September 14, 2015–February 7, 2016

The largest American museum presentation centered around the artist’s sculptures in almost 50 years, Picasso Sculpture explored how the artist upended sculptural and artistic history by redefining and reinterpreting classic themes throughout his career. In that same spirit, we redrew Bodoni, arguably one of the most classic typefaces, and one often used by the artist in his publications and posters. By modifying the typeface’s graceful contrasts and subtle curves, it paralleled his sculptures’ heavier forms and proportions, while still retaining its classic heritage.
